Visualization Before Sleep

Visualization before sleep!

Are you struggling to stay on track?
Have you ever wondered what makes successful people so organized and productive?
Do you want to reshape your brain into a supercomputer programmed for success?

This article will give you a 6-step visualization process to achieve that!

VISUALIZATION BEFORE SLEEP: 6 STEPS TO TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE

You know that feeling when your head hits the pillow, you’re facing the ceiling, and distractions vanish? That instant when your eyes close, and you’re left alone with the shadows of your mind. That’s the ideal moment to perform this visualization, bring insights, and transition into a powerful night of sleep, with style.

REVIEW

The first step of this visualization is to review your entire day:

From the moment you woke up to the instant your head hit the pillow. Try to visualize the events chronologically and with as many details as possible. Think of replaying the movie of your day in your mind and seeing yourself from above acting through it.

APPRECIATE

As you review the actions chronologically, pause to appreciate the positives.

By “appreciate,” I mean deeply feeling the positive emotions tied to the meaning behind these actions. Think about how they’ve helped you and others.

We often fail to admire what we did. Just before sleep is the perfect moment to remind yourself of them and extend the pleasure they brought you.

Doing so clearly tells your brain to value these types of actions and therefore repeat them.

LEARN

Imagine that with every mistake you made, you learned a transformative lesson:

  • How would your life be?
  • Wouldn’t you look forward to making more mistakes and learning more from them?

Own your mistakes; instead of feeling ashamed, confront them, reflect, and learn. They hold powerful lessons that prevent you from repeating similar missteps.

UPGRADE

Pinpoint what you could improve and what you can learn or apply for a better future.

Base these upgrades on these two questions:

  • How can you make the good things you did even better?
  • How can you avoid mistakes and react differently in similar situations?

PLAN

So, you reviewed your day, appreciated your accomplishments, learned from your mistakes, and upgraded your perspective!

Now, It’s time to plan for the next day.
The goal is to make every day 1% better than the previous one.

Having the intention of making tomorrow better than yesterday will automatically shift your mindset from being passive to actively seeking improvements.

The idea is to set three priority tasks that will get you close to accomplishing your goals, ideally at least one for each of the following areas: health, relationships, and career.

MOTIVATE

The last step is to anticipate taking action and see your plan succeed. Visualize executing your priorities in full detail, like rehearsing the ideal outcomes.

Rehearse in your mind the steps you planned for each priority with as many details as possible. Picture yourself acting on your plan vividly. Anticipate potential challenges and prepare strategies to overcome them if they arise. End by savoring the positive emotions you’ll experience as you hit your goals.

CONCLUSION

Don’t underestimate the power of visualization; your brain cannot distinguish between a virtual experience (played in your mind) and a real experience.

Visualization helps you:

  • Anticipate and solve problems faster;
  • Structure your life and act according to your plan;
  • Significantly increase your clarity and motivation for taking efficient actions when it is time to take them!

Give it a try; you’ll be surprised!

Enjoy!
